Privacy Policy
We collect nothing. Here’s the long version.

CaptureEase is built so that privacy isn’t a policy you have to trust — it’s the way the software works. The extension runs entirely on your device. There is no CaptureEase server, no account, and no part of your recording is ever sent anywhere.
What we collect
Nothing. We have no servers and no analytics. We do not collect your recordings, your screen contents, your microphone audio, your browsing, your IP address, or any personal information.
Where your recordings live
Recordings are written directly to private storage inside your browser (the Origin Private File System) on your own device. They never leave it. When you save a video, it goes to the download location you choose. When you delete a recording, it’s gone — there is no copy anywhere else, because a copy was never made.
Permissions, and why each exists
- storage — to remember your settings and keep a small local registry of recordings so one can be recovered after an unexpected crash.
- sidePanel — to show the recording launcher in Chrome’s side panel.
- offscreen — to run the recorder in a hidden document so capture keeps going even when you close the panel or popup.
Screen capture itself uses the browser’s built-in picker (the standard getDisplayMedia
web API), which requires no special permission and always asks you to choose what to share. The
microphone is only ever used when you turn it on, and your browser asks for permission first.
Analytics, tracking, and third parties
None. There are no trackers, no third-party scripts, and no advertising. This website serves only static pages and the fonts used to display them.
Children’s privacy
CaptureEase collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this ever changes — for example, if an optional paid feature in the future needs a network connection — we’ll update this page and clearly explain what changed and what it affects. Anything that touches the network will always be optional and clearly labeled.
